Crocodiles naisille vahvistus Ranskasta

Crocodiles naiset ovat solmineet pelaajasopimuksen 29-vuotiaan ranskalaisen Sylvie Aibechen kanssa. Aibeche tuo vahvuutta hyökkäyksen laitahyökkääjiin sekä puolustuksen takakentälle. Lisäksi hän on pelannut myös pelinrakentajana joten Crocodiles saa Salon rinnalle toisen kapellimestarin hyökkäykseen. Sylvien löytää kesällä kentältä pelinumerolla #15. Crocodilesillä on jo aikaisempaa kokemusta kansainvälisistä pelaajista vuodelta 2013, kun Jasmine Teters sai kunnian olla ensimmäinen amerikkalaisvahvistus Suomen naisten amerikkalaisen jalkapallon SM-sarjassa. Crocodilesille jäi Tetersin pelaamisesta osana krokotiilinaisia todella hyvät muistot, joten samaa odotetaan myös tältä kesältä. Crocodiles toivottaa Sylvien tervetulleeksi joukkueeseen! Sylvie kertoi itsestään ja ajatuksistaan tulevaa kautta ajatellen.

Miten olet päätynyt amerikkalaisen jalkapallon pariin?

- Olen aloittanut vuonna 2012 eli tämä on viides kauteni. Yliopisto-opintoni olivat loppusuoralla ja viimeistellessäni opinnäytetyötäni päädyin kirjoittamisen sijaan katsomaan maratonina sarjan jonka pääpaino on amerikkalaisessa jalkapallossa. Rakastuin sarjan myötä lajiin: itse peliin, sen vahvoihin arvoihin ja joukkuekavereiden väliseen siteeseen. Aloin etsimään joukkuetta Ranskasta ja löysinkin silloisen ainoan. Sunnuntaina selätettyäni opinnäytetyöni olin kentällä valmistautumassa pelaamaan Espanjan joukkuetta vastaan. Muistan ikuisesti tunteen kun juoksin ensimmäistä kertaa varusteissa ja kypärä päässäni. En olisi voinut olla onnellisempi! Koska olimme Ranskan ainut joukkue pelasimme ystävyysotteluja muiden maiden joukkueita vastaan Ranskassa, Espanjassa ja Saksassa. Kansainväliset ottelut olivat rikastuttavia ja oli hienoa tavata kauemmin pelanneita.

Perustimme nykyisen joukkueeni viimevuonna Pariisiin, missä meidät tunnetaan nimellä The Paris Dragons - Pariisin Lohikäärmeet. Olen pelannut takakentän puolustajana ja laitahyökkääjänä ennen nykyistä pääpelipaikkaani pelinrakentajana. Kaikki pelipaikat ovat minulle kuitenkin edelleen rakkaita, ja pääsenkin välillä peleissä myös puolustamaan.

Mitkä ovat vahvuutesi amerikkalaisen jalkapallon pelaajana?

- Pelaajana olen intohimoinen ja olen mielestäni kehittynyt viimevuosien aikana paljon johtuen innokkuudestani oppia uutta ja harjoitella. Pelinrakentajana juoksen myös itse, pidän pelin elossa jaloillani ja teen touchdowneja. Vaikka keskityn taskussa pysymiseen, näistä taidoista on apua silloin tällöin. Minua on myös luonnehdittu "viileäksi kuin viilipytty". Tällä on uskoakseni tarkoitettu sitä että olen itsevarma enkä anna paineiden käydä päälleni. Monet eivät juuri pidä paineista pelinrakentajan pelipaikalla, mutta omat ajatukseni niitä kohtaan ovat oikeastaan päinvastaiset. 

Kuinka päädyit pelaamaan Suomeen ja Seinäjoki Crocodilesiin?

- Viime vuonna olin toimittajana naisten ensimmäisissä  EM-kisoissa naisten amerikkalaista jalkapalloa käsittelevää FootballAmericainFeminin.com -nettisivuani varten. Siellä tutustuin Suomen joukkueenjohtajaan joka tarjosi minulle mahdollisuutta osallistua Suomeen valtakunnalliselle tekniikkaleirille tämän vuoden tammikuussa. Leirillä treenasin yhdessä QB Tiina Salon kanssa ja kaikki huonekaverini olivat myös Crocodilesista. Kun minua pyydettiin pelaamaan joukkueeseen tulevaksi kaudeksi innostuksen tunteen lisäksi se tuntui todella luontevalta. Joukkuehenki ja ryhmän arvot ovat minulle tärkeitä asioita ja minulla oli vaikutelma että Crocodiles olisi joukkue jolle pelaisin mielelläni.

Mitä odotuksia sinulla on kaudelle Naisten Vaahteraliigassa, ja mitkä ovat henkilökohtaiset tavoitteesi?

- Totta kai tahdon päästä pelaamaan välieriin ja mennä niin pitkälle kuin mahdollista. Pitää unelma elossa loppuun asti. Mahdollisuus tehdä mitä rakastaa ja pelata jenkkifutista joka päivä on harvinaista ja olen tietoinen kuinka onnekas olen. Haluan vain treenata niin kovaa kuin pystyn, pelata parhaani mukaan ja auttaa Crocodilesia kaikessa missä he minua tarvitsevat. Mielestäni oman arjen keskellä pelaaminen ei tunnu samalta kuin esimerkiksi leirillä, jossa kaikki keskittyminen on lajissa ja siinä miten kehität itseäsi entistä paremmaksi. Toivon, että voisin löytää saman keskittymisen ja rytmin jokaiseen päivään Seinäjoella.

Ennen kaikkea, amerikkalainen jalkapallo on vahva ihmiskokemus. Odotan ehdottomasti sitoutumista joukkuekavereiden ja valmennuksen kanssa, hienoja elämyksiä ja kokea saavani olla Suomalainen muutaman kuukauden ajan. Minä rakastuin Suomeen kun kävin täällä ensimmäisen kerran, ja odotan rakastavani sitä entistä enemmän kauden lopussa!

 Strengthening from France to Crocodiles women: QB/WR/DB Sylvie Aibeche

Crocodiles women has done international playe rcontract with 29 - years old Sylvie Aibeche from France. Aibeche brings strenght to Crocodiles offence as wide receiver and to defence as free safety. She has also played as quarterback so Crocodiles gets another leader to offence alongside Tiina Salo. You may find Sylvie from the field wearing gamejersey number #15. Crocodiles already had experience from international player from the year 2013, when Jamsin Teters had the honor to be first american player in Finland womens champion league. Crocodiles got good memories playing with Teters and waits same from this summer with Sylvie. Crocodiles welcomes Sylvie to the team! Sylvie told us about herself and her thoughts about upcoming season:

How did you end up to play american football?

- I really discovered football in my final year of university. After the end of the exams, I had a month to finish up my thesis before starting my internship. I used to sit everyday at my desk right from 7am, pretty decided to write all day long... I ended up binge watching the 5 seasons of Friday Night Lights, a tv show about Texas high school football. I totally fell in love with the sport. Everything about it appealed to me so much : the game, the strong values, the bond between teammates.
I looked for a team and found the only one in France at the time. The Sunday after I defended my thesis, I was on the field preparing to play Team Spain. I'll always strongly remember the first time I ran with pads and helmet on. I couldn't have been happier ! It was like being a knight, a kids dream! I totally loved football since then !

I started with the Sparkles in 2012. Therefore this is my fifth season. We were the only team back then and played friendly games, in France, Spain and Germany. The international games were really enriching and it was awesome to meet more experienced players. It was the beginning of women's football in France at the time. It's amazing to see how it has evolved since then. I played Free Safety and Wide Receiver before being a Quarterback. I still love the two positions a lot and get to play on defense some games. Last year we created my Current team, the Paris Dragons.

What are your strenghts as football player?

- I'm really passionate and I guess I've improved a lot over these last years because I'm always eager to train and learn more. I grew up playing soccer in various position, and being a former keeper particularly helped as a receiver or safety. Playing with the ball is what I love and what feels natural to me. As a QB I can also scramble, keep plays alive with my legs and score touchdowns. As much as I'm focusing on staying in the pocket, it can be pretty usefull sometimes. At the WWFG3 at the Saints, Allyson Hamlin, the great QB of the DC Divas said I was "as cool as a cucumber". On top of making me laugh, it was pretty encouraging, especially coming from her. I guess what she meant is that I was poised and didn't let the pressure get to me. Many people don’t like this part of the QB position. I don’t mind, at the contrary actually.

How did you end up to play in Finland and Seinäjoki Crocodiles?

- Last summer, I had a journalist accreditation to cover the WEC15, the first Women’s European Championship for my website on women's football : FootballAmericainFeminin.com. Over there I got to meet and talk to Petra Eloranta, Finland Team Manager. She was really nice and offered me to come to the Tekniikkaleiri of last January. Months later she didn't forget and there I was, thanks to her and Köpi that helped with everything. I'd like to thank them for everything again. They've been great from day one and I won't forget that.

At the camp I trained with QB Tiina Salo and all my roomies were also Crocodiles. I got along with everyone really well and when she asked me if I'd like to join the team, on top of being exciting it felt pretty natural too. The team spirit and the values of a group are really important to me and I had the impression that the crocodiles’ were a team I'd love to play for.

What do you wait from the season in Womens Maple League and what are you individual goals?

- Obviously I wanna make the playoffs and go as far as possible : Keep the dream alive till the end.
Having said that, being given the chance to just do what you love and play football everyday it's a really rare oppotunity. I’m totally aware of how lucky I am. I just wanna train as hard as I can, play my best possible and help the crocodiles in any way they need me to. I feel like playing when your day to day life or worries are still in the a corner of your head is not the same as playing at a camp for example. Then all your attention is on football only and simply getting better at it. I hope I can find this kind of focus and rhythm everyday in Seinäjoki.

Before anything else, football is a strong human experience… I'm definitely looking forward to bond with my teammates and coaches, live great moments and get a real feel of what is like to be a Finnish for a couple of months... I really loved Finland the first time I came, I expect to love it even more by the end of the season !
